Are Hermes Oran Sandals Worth It?
For roughly the last 5 years, I’ve had one reliable pair of black sandals that went through everything with me. They matched almost every outfit, could be dressed up or dressed down and were the perfect summer essential. I’m talking about my Tory Burch Miller Sandals. Unfortunately, they’re starting to fall apart and I was in need of something new, so I started the sandal search.
Before I purchased my first pair of Hermes Orans, I tried the Dior Dway Mule. I purchased two different sizes and neither of them worked out because my feet are a bit wide and the Dior sandal just wasn’t for me. So, I moved onto the Hermes Oran since it was highly reviewed all over YouTube and plus - it’s Hermes, so of course I was intrigued.
Sizing
The first pair I bought is a light brown pair. I purchased a half size up and it was still sort of a tight fit but after a while, they loosened up a bit and were pretty comfortable. I actually started wearing them so often (even during lockdown to run errands) that I decided a black pair would be a great addition to my wardrobe. This time, I went a full size up and I wish I would have done that the first time because even though these will still need to be broken in (the leather starts off pretty stiff) they’re still a lot easier to wear right out of the box.
Comfort
Now, are the Hermes Oran sandals the most comfortable shoes in the world? No, absolutely not. My feet would rather be happy in a pair of soft-footbed Birkenstocks. However, they aren’t bad when it comes to comfort. I’d rate them a 7/10 for comfort. They tend to rub in a few places when you first start wearing them and even after they’re broken in, theres still some pain if worn for more than a 4 or 5 hours.
Pricing
The Hermes Oran starts at $630 and goes up depending on materials and design. They even make them in exotic leathers for much more!
So, are they worth it?
Overall, I think having one pair of these in your collection is worth it. They’re good quality leather, they’re pretty durable and they go with everything. The price tag is high though, so if you’re on the fence try a cheaper alternative. Plenty of companies make dupes of this sandal, so try out one of those and if you love them then invest in a pair of Hermes sandals for the long run.
